  • Tuna Fish Comes in the Right Size Can

Did you ever see the movie where Michael Keaton comes up with a bright idea for packaging tuna fish in a can? He is pondering all of the different tuna fish recipes. He thinks that there is a more efficient way of packaging tuna fish since most people mix mayonnaise with their tuna fish and serve it on a sandwich.

He thinks you should package the mayonnaise in with the tuna fish so that it is ready to go when you open the can. “No” he says, thinking about it again. “Better yet, feed the mayonnaise to the tuna fish.”

Tuna fish is packaged in the right size can if you are making a simple meal for two people. You make sandwiches or a salad and there is usually nothing left over. Very few people eat leftover tuna fish sandwiches. There is a reason for this. The same reason that Michael Keaton’s idea did not catch on. Mayonnaise spoils quickly and you get sick.

Tuna fish is good for you. It is a big fish and you cannot eat it every day because it has a higher mercury content. Albacore tuna has three times the amount of mercury that light tuna has. There is a simple calculator on the internet that tells you how much you can eat a week based on your weight and sex. Google has a recommended tuna fish intake. It is probably a good rule of thumb not to eat it more than once a week.

A good alternative to canned tuna is canned salmon. It comes in the same size can and does not carry the same concerns for mercury content that tuna does. It also gives you some great advantages of eating healthy omega 3’s. For some good recipes using these two simple canned fish check out the web site eatdinner4two.com.
