Top 3 Tips for Jumping like a Basketball Pro
No CommentsEver wondered how professional basketball athletes jump so high? How they achieve that much athleticism and endurance? Well that’s simple, they are natural athletes, and they do a lot of exercise, nutrition and training. But that’s only half true; with proper exercise coupled with dedication anyone can achieve similar athleticism. Here are a few basic pointers that should help you become a better athlete.
All athletes have amazing coordination and they follow strict exercise regimes to improve and enhance that coordination. Even if you have skilled hands you won’t get far without strong legs. Legs are the key, and to improve power in them you have to incorporate plyometric exercises specifically targeting your leg muscles. Any explosive movement like jumping over a rope, jumping to a stool/ stand can be very good starters. Start with smaller vertical jumps and increase the height as your legs get stronger.
Sprinting is another easy way of awakening the leg muscles and putting them to use. Forget about jog and brisk walking, just burst into sprints and increase your stamina and endurance over time.
Employ leg exercises like leg extensions, curls and presses along with, ever powerful, squats in your workouts. But do all of these exercises in an explosive manner like doing plyometric. More than often people ignore lower body while training in the gym, for basketball you don’t specifically need bigger legs, you just need to use all the muscle available, which is plenty since leg muscles are the biggest muscles in body.
Follow these simple tips and you will notice definite improvement within few weeks. If you seriously want to know how to increase your vertical jump, then you’ve got to see this guide written by Jacob Hiller, called The Jump Manual. You will learn everything you need to know about how to jump higher, what to eat and how to train.
