The Hunt for the Best Electric Shaver
No CommentsOur hunt to find the best electric shaver around will invariable lead us to some of the sites of leading manufacturers, a few of the retailers’ sites and some review sites, all in the hope that we will have researched the topic thoroughly before buying. There are a few common threads to the review sites that we need to be aware of.
Firstly if the home page is awash with the products of one major brand then in all likelihood it is not a “review” site at all, despite its name. It’s a site set up to promote that brand, plain and simple. A good review site should include a mixture of products from Braun, Philips, Panasonic, Remington and maybe even Wahl. Only then are you getting a full picture of what’s around in the marketplace.
Similarly if there are no general shaver buying tips then beware. A site devoted to helping people choose the right shaver should include non-brand specific information like the difference between rotary head and foil head shavers, the rechargeable battery-operated and mains-operated shavers, the various cleaning systems available, the cutting technologies employed, the wet/dry shavers that are around now, the materials used, the shapes and sizes and life expectancies, and so on.
Finally when you come to the top ten electric shavers lists that you will usually see on the site, make sure that this is not populated by only one or two brands. I have seen ones where the top 5 places are from the same manufacturer and this is a warning sign not to take it too seriously. They are more like marketing sites than review sites. With the Top 10 lists also make sure that they are up to date, as sometimes they are placed on a site for months or even years, without considering new products that come on to the market.
