Small Business Strategies For Help Desks
No CommentsIt is vital not only to gain new customers but to maintain the customers you already have. Repeat business from satisfied customers is a very important type of advertising especially as part of a small business strategy. People talk to neighbors and friends and recommend businesses they have found that give excellent service or offer a great product.
They also feel very free to share if a company has disappointed them. If the business offers help desk services these people have a huge job dealing with customers to help solve problems and answer questions.
Since these employees will have direct contact with current customers is it important that they have sufficient training. They need to gain a familiarity with the products/services. They need to have a soothing manner to deal with irate customers. They need to be able to listen to a problem or question and understand what the customer is really asking. They need to project professionalism and caring. They need to be absolutely clear to callers that their problem is being taken care of promptly. And they need to follow through on the promises made to customers.
The help desk professionals must communicate with the different departments in the company to relate problem areas and offer suggestions on improving the product. If they get recurring calls on one particular issue they must relay that information to the appropriate departments. They can also be a resource to solve technical problems within the company.
In these tight economic times it is important to do all you can to get new customers and keep current customers. If a customer is not happy they will look elsewhere for a product or service. Small businesses can grow quickly if they have satisfied customers who will tell others about your company. It is well worth any expense to train these professionals to represent your company well to the public.
