A pop up camper or folding camper is a towed recreational vehicle that can be folded for easy transportation and storage. This trailer has large amount of interior space after it is set up. This camper’s smaller size and affordable price make it as the ideal choice for the campers or travelers. A traditional pop up trailer consists of a box, a frame, a roof, soft walls, and pull-out bunks. The soft walls are made from canvas or vinyl or equivalently soft material, and also have clear windows made from vinyl.

Some of the basic features found in most pop up are on-board fresh water tank, interior DC lighting, fold-down dinette, storage cabinets, sink, two sleeping bunks, 12 volt DC power, stove, propane furnace, electric water pump, absorption refrigerator, water heater, electric brakes, rooftop AC, roof vent, storage trunk, exterior shower, and awning. Some of the top-end models include slide out section, shower, microwave, toilet, oven, and waste water tank.

There are different types of pop up campers in the market such as high wall pop up, toyhauler pop up, motorcycle campers, A-frame, off road pop up, and flip out camper. High wall have a taller box and motorcycle type is the light weight camper. Toyhauler consist of a cargo deck for transporting motorcycles or ATV. Flip out model consist of a tent roof that opens up to form a bunk and A-frame consist of solid wall.

There are few things that should be considered while buying this camper. The first important consideration is the weight of the camper, towing vehicle should be well-equipped to meet heavy demands such as vehicle’s transmission, brakes, engine, and suspension. The vehicles that come with towing packages have features upgraded to meet such high demands. Safety is the other factor. Turn signals and brake lights should be properly wired and receiver type hitch system works better.
