Pros and Cons of High Deductible on Car Coverage
No CommentsNext to where we live, vehicle payments and insurance are probably the next largest expense. The costs can add up. People often look for car insurance savings and how they can still lower their insurance rates. You have probably heard that you can pay lower premium if you raise your deductible. Yes, this actually works and you will have a lower premium if you do this. However, it is not one hundred percent guarantee that you will save money because this can be a good or bad thing depending on your lifestyle. When you deal with car insurance savings, you have to look for info and find out if you can benefit from the tips that you read.
As mentioned earlier, raising your deductible can be a good thing or a bad thing. It would work to your advantage if you are a type of person who commutes to work and only drives around town. You do not drive long distances and the place you live in is very safe for driving. If you have a high deductible then you should avoid repair shops. So this is also a good idea if you have a brand new car or a car in very good condition that you will not have to take it to the repair shop any time soon.
Now if you are the adventurous type that likes to drive in rugged terrain or mountainous roads and your car is constantly threatened to get smashed and damaged then you probably should not raise your deductibles. Just pay a higher monthly premium and let the insurance handle all the repairs that you can incur.
This is not the only way you can lower your insurance cost. If you constantly look for info on the internet you will find lots of ways to save on insurance cost. Remember that insurance company also gives discounts. Try to ask for your insurance company if you qualify for these discounts.
