Pros And Cons Of Bamboo Flooring
No CommentsIn the world of hardwood flooring why would anyone choose bamboo flooring over traditional wood such as oak and maple? It’s all a matter of personal choice and preference. Some people may even be as bold to say “why would you choose anything else?” The reason why many people go with bamboo is because it’s a great alternative to hardwood because it’s a sustainable product that grows in the fraction of time as a wood product. Bamboo is actually a grass. Amazing isn’t it?
Benefits Of Bamboo Flooring
For what it’s worth, bamboo is actually harder than wood. It will take as much abuse from pets, young children, and careless adults. I am not suggesting that you purposely abuse the floor just because it’s hard. It will show scratches and dents just the same as hardwood. And just like hardwood, it can be refinished multiple times.
Bamboo flooring is significantly less expensive than wood flooring because it is a sustainable product, grows very fast, and is very plentiful. A comparable wood flooring takes a lifetime to produce just one tree. Bamboo can be grown in a few years. That’s pretty cool isn’t it?
Bamboo hardwood flooring is absolutely beautiful and very unique. Some people call exotic and it is because it’s tropical and not as prevalent in homes has hardwood floors. There is a certain mystique about having bamboo flooring. The pros and cons of bamboo flooring are about equal. Like I mentioned before, it’s all about personal choice. You are either going to love it or hate it. Never make a buying decision on price alone. It’s hard to fall in love with a product even if you get it for free if it’s not your taste.
Best Places To Install Bamboo Flooring
Bamboo flooring can be installed in almost every room in your home. If you live in an area where there is a concrete sub-floor, then you will have to go with engineered bamboo flooring. This makes the job really easy as it’s clicked together rather than nailed. If your sub-floor is wood, then you can go with bamboo planks. If you’re looking for bathroom flooring ideas, I would not use bamboo or any other wood products because water loves wood. You would be better off with natural stone products or ceramic tile. Bamboo looks outstanding in living rooms, dining rooms, dens, and hallways. Bamboo works great for a kids playroom. It will take as much abuse as your young ones can dish out.
Where To Buy Bamboo Flooring
I like to search for reviews at Amazon.com and The Home Depot. You are going to find more than enough information to make a buying decision when you hear from real folks like yourself. Lumber Liquidators and other brick and mortar stores offer fantastic discounts and help on installation. If you go with an engineered product, installation is not much harder than kids playing with Lego building blocks. You can watch some YouTube videos and do the job yourself to save hundreds of dollars on the installation.
