Main Reasons Behind Recurrent Yeast Infections and the Ways to Cure Them
No CommentsThere are many reasons why a yeast infection may reoccur, because they are very difficult to eradicate entirely, in the first place. Yeast infections often appear to be cured only to come back a very short time later.
Yeast infections are caused by Candida, a fungus that occurs naturally in the digestive tract. In its original natural form, it is friendly to the digestive system and necessary for good health. When a person is prone to illnesses for which antibiotics are required repeatedly, the antibiotics have a devastating effect on the Candida. Antibiotics cause the friendly fungus to morph, into evil yeast that’s sole purpose in life is to destroy the host (your body), on which it depends for its very existence.
One reason that a yeast infection may recur is the fact that prolonged antibiotic treatment is a continuing factor. Having cured or relieved the symptoms of a yeast infection, does not mean that the underlying reason why it began has been eliminated.
If prescription drugs such as anti-fungal medications or topical creams were used to cure the infection; they may not have been taken long enough to get the job done. Medications are prescribed for X number of doses for X number of days. Perhaps your body needed more time to metabolize the drugs and kill the yeast. The same can be said for home remedies or over-the-counter medications. Maybe, it was just not enough.
When you have had any kind of external yeast infection, or yeast infection in an externally accessible body cavity, the same conditions under which it began the first time could still exist. For example: it is imperative that the skin be kept clean and dry; this applies to diaper rash, yeast infection in the folds of the skin, vaginal and penile yeast infection or that of any other body cavity. Thrush of the mouth has a similar requirement; while keeping the mouth dry is neither desirable, nor is it an option, keeping it clean is. Oral hygiene is imperative, not just for prevention or cure of yeast infection, but also for the health of the whole body.
Maybe you’ve gone off that excellent healthy diet that you were so eager to begin, when the yeast infection was driving you nuts. The dietary requirements that help with yeast infection such as high fiber, lots of preferably raw, vegetables and fruits, lowering sugar and carbohydrate intake, along with adding vinegar, garlic and other enzymatic substances to your diet. This type of diet keeps you healthy and provides healthy enzymes that kill yeast (vinegar and garlic). And by the way, what happened to all of that yogurt, you were supposed to be eating? Remember the probiotics, with the live acidophilus cultures? You remember – they eat up the Candida yeast!
Vigilance is the key. The good things you do for you; are basically bad for the yeast. Even though, you cannot continue, indefinitely, to use the prescription drugs for yeast infection, you can consult your doctor to see if another course of treatment, or an alternative one, is advisable. You can take all the other precautions; like diet and hygiene, and above all avoid any physical contact with yeast infection in another person. While you’re at it, you might get yourself a box of surgical gloves.
