Less Mess, Less Parent Stress
No CommentsParents are under a lot of stress these days. Often, both mother and father have to work. Then, they have to find good schools for their kids as well as protect them from any of the evils that are out there in the world, like drugs, strangers, and predators. It can get very stressful!
Then, when they come home, if they have to deal with lots of mess, things can get even worse! The smaller stress of a messy house can actually cause a parent to snap. This can increase child stress, because they don’t know what will make their mom or dad mad at them.
Keeping the house clean and picked up is a necessity. Children need to be taught how to pick up their own toys, preferably from a young age. That way, the parent will have a little less stress. However, picking up toys can be overwhelming for a child, especially if they have a lot.
Start by getting rid of some of those toys. Most kids have toys that they don’t play with. They have broken toys or ones that they’ve outgrown. Getting rid of these will help reduce the number that needs to be picked up every day.
Then, find a way to organize the toys that the children can easily access and use. A toy bin organizer, like the srt-01602, works well. They allow you to sort toys according to type, and label them so the child can easily find what he or she is looking for. You can find a toy organizer sale here.

Finally, teach the child where everything belongs. Have him help you put the toys away, asking where he thinks things should go. This will help him feel like the system is really his. Then, make sure picking up becomes part of the daily routine.
