Effective Communications Strategy Template – Principal Headings You Need To Use
No CommentsBy using a communications strategy template, you should be able to highlight all the essential information you need to communicate to senior management and other teams in your company. The structure itself can be kept quite simple.
The types of headings used in all communications (e.g. reports, updates, etc.) are there for improving communication in the workplace through proper transmission of critical information. The template structure for communication between project teams should include each of the following sections:
- Project goals: This may be essential in larger companies where the actual objectives of specific departments/project teams may be alone to other groups. This only needs to be kept quite brief and limited to two or three bullet points.
- Progress updates: Provide a brief synopsis of what work achievements have been made within your project team along with some of your setbacks and major changes (e.g. losing resources, missed milestones, etc.).
- Budgets: Detail your projects progress against your assigned budget. This is often easily done using a graph to show estimated costs versus the actual current costs.
- Major milestones: Include details of major milestones which your team has achieved. There is no point going into minor milestones which may only have taken a small amount of time to complete. They can however be included as part of an appendix if you so wish (since some other dependent teams may be interested in this data).
- Issues and risks: Highlight major problems you for see in the project in this section for management to see. A decision will need to be made about how to deal with these issues and risks by management themselves and should be noted in subsequent communications strategy template reports.
- Alterations to project plans: Your plans will alter over time due to high severity customer requests, strategic decisions, new opportunities, etc. Detail how your project plan has been affected as a result, either positively or negatively.
