Decorating With Kitchen Worktops
No CommentsIn planning your kitchen, one of your primary considerations should be your kitchen worktops. They are the most heavily used areas of your kitchen, so you need to position and choose them well to maximize their function. But in doing this, you also need to consider how they look, in relation to the rest of your kitchen. You need to make them blend with the rest of your appliances, and create one coherent look.
First off, it should be noted that there are two basic strategies to go for when decorating with kitchen worktops. One is to go for a single color and material that would complement the entire theme. Another is to go for a mix of different colors and materials to suit different purposes. Each strategy has their pros and cons. A single material would be excellent for blending in, but depending on the overall colors, the effect might be too overwhelming. Use this strategy if your kitchen has several color combinations, or items that give it contrast. On the other hand, if your kitchen is predominantly made up of only one or two colors, then you may want to go for a mix of different, yet complementary colors.
As for material, laminate is usually good to create modern-looking, colorful kitchens. Wood on the other hand, is great for creating that rustic look, or if you have a few other wooden items that would complement it. Granite is a good choice for attaining that sleek look, or creating that neo-classical ambience in your kitchen. Other materials such as glass may also be used for modern-looking areas that are not used for food preparation.
There are no actual rules when it comes to decorating, but the above suggestions are a great way to get the imagination going. Remember to match your kitchen worktops with the overall look of your interiors, then choose the materials and colors that would contrast with them.
